The Theme of today’s
World Creativity and Innovation Day is “Step out and Innovate.”
World Creativity and Innovation Day was founded by Marci Segal, the famous Canadian creativity specialist and futurist in 2002, to inspire people to develop creative innovations that will have an impact on human development.
Creativity involves generating original and unique ideas, while innovation is about implementing those ideas to create value.
The easiest way to spark creativity and fuel new ideas is by exposing yourself to something new. Arrange a group book or film club event – Have a group of friends, family, or peers read or watch a new film or book and gather to discuss your thoughts and ideas about it.
The day is dedicated to showcasing how creativity can be used to drive economic, social, and sustainable development. It also aims to raise awareness about the role of creativity in the creation of future-ready products.
Innovation Day exposes Citizens to new ideas, new practices, new behaviours, and new concepts.
Five critical elements lie at the core of any successful innovation strategy: Innovation Culture, Leadership Buy-In, Enable Team Members, Reward and Recognize, and Defined Metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
These concepts are imperative to achieving results and maintaining a scalable, sustainable innovation model.
The Enugu State Governor, Dr Barr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in the Journey to make Enugu one of the three States in Nigeria in terms of GDP and also achieve a 0% Rate in the Poverty Headcount Index (PHI) is using: Transparency Traceability Accountability Optimal performance, Participatory Monitoring & Evaluation and Disruptive Innovation as the driving forces.
