2024 International Anti-Corruption Day: A Health Economist, Dr Oluedo Eric, praises Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu state, for implementing Anti-Corruption measures that have made him the best Nigerian Governor of the Years 2023 & 2024. He crashed the State’s external debt by $39.8M in 1year among others.
Enugu State Government under Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, crashes its external debt by $39.8 million, the highest by new state governors between June 2023 and June 2024, Statisense said at the weekend, citing data published by the Debt Management Office (DMO). This Landmark achievement adds to the Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental and Industrial Revolutions going on in Enugu state under Peter Ndubuisi Mbah. These are possible because the Driving Forces And Governance Philosophy of his administration include Transparency, Accountability, Traceability, Business Unusual, Disruptive Innovation, Optimal Performance and Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation that are always based on Transcendental Values.
Speaking on the Theme: “Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity”, Dr Oluedo who is also a Policy and Management Consultant, advices African Governments to pay equal attention to Political, Economic, Social, Technological and Law and Order Corruptions instead of focusing mainly on Economic Corruption. Corruption is a complex social, political and economic phenomenon that affects all countries. Corruption undermines democratic institutions, slows economic development and contributes to governmental instability.
Corruption attacks the foundation of democratic institutions by distorting electoral processes, perverting the rule of law and creating bureaucratic quagmires, whose only reason for existing is the soliciting of bribes. Economic development is stunted, because foreign direct investment is discouraged and small businesses within the country often find it impossible to overcome the “start-up costs” required, because of corruption. Building a just world and a sustainable planet is only possible if corruption doesn’t stand in the way.
